Peace in Ramadan: Upholding Islamic Teachings Against Civilian Attacks

The Syrian coast is witnessing a new phase of ongoing conflict characterized by guerrilla warfare. Battles are raging between supporters of the former regime, primarily from the Alawite minority, and the current government, which has a Sunni majority. Innocent civilians are suffering the consequences of this war. While some call for mobilization and seek revenge, there is a grave risk of massacres targeting the innocent—an act that contradicts the teachings of Islam that both Sunni and Alawite Muslims must uphold if they are true believers.

Islam explicitly prohibits attacks on non-combatants and commands justice even during wartime. Allah says:
“And do not transgress; indeed, Allah does not like the transgressors.” (Quran 2:190) This verse instructs Muslims not to exceed limits in combat, making it impermissible to target women, children, the elderly, or those uninvolved in the conflict. Unfortunately, such acts have occurred in several villages and have been documented.

Moreover, the Quran emphasizes the sanctity of human life, stating:
“Whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land—it is as if he had slain mankind entirely.” (Quran 5:32) Shedding innocent blood due to sectarian or ethnic affiliation is a grave crime that cannot be justified. Justice is the foundation of governance, and wrongdoing cannot be rectified with further injustice.

Islam warns against the strife that divides Muslims and leads to unjust bloodshed. Allah says:
“And fitnah is worse than killing.” (Quran 2:191) Such discord leads to an endless cycle of revenge and opens the door to countless tragedies, where everyone becomes a victim, and the innocent pay the highest price. Regrettably, some individuals from both the Alawite and Sunni communities, shielded from the violence, instigate conflict, viewing the slain merely as numbers, labeling them as martyrs without regard for their humanity.

We call upon the wise individuals from both sects and community leaders to prevent their children from engaging in armed conflict. It is imperative to stop the bloodshed, as the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) instructed in his teachings to avoid harming women, children, and the elderly, and prohibited mutilation of bodies or aggression against non-combatants.

Today, Syria needs justice, not more massacres; reconciliation, not revenge. Arbitrary retribution does not build a nation, and vengeance does not ensure security; it only deepens wounds and plunges the country into an endless cycle of chaos.

It is essential to prioritize reason over violence. Protect your country with wisdom, not disorder; destruction is easy, but restoration is difficult. Once a vessel is broken, it cannot be repaired.

يشهد الساحل السوري مرحلة جديدة من الصراع القائم على حرب العصابات، حيث تدور معارك بين أطراف مختلفة، ويعاني المدنيون العزل من تبعات هذه الحرب. وبينما يعلن البعض النفير العام ويُستجلب المقاتلون بدافع الثأر، فإننا أمام خطر وقوع مجازر تطال الأبرياء، وهو أمر يتنافى مع تعاليم الإسلام التي يجب ان يلتزم بها المسلمين السنة والعلويين هذا ان كانوا مؤمنين.
حيث يُحرّم الإسلام بشكل قاطع الاعتداء على غير المقاتلين، ويأمر بالعدل حتى في أوقات الحرب. يقول الله تعالى: وَلَا تَعْتَدُوا۟ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُعْتَدِينَ﴾ “البقرة: 190” هذه الآية تأمر المسلمين بعدم تجاوز الحد في القتال، فلا يجوز استهداف النساء، أو الأطفال، أو الشيوخ، أو العزل الذين لم يشاركوا في الحرب. ولكن للأسف تم ذلك في عدة قرى وتم توثيق تلك الأفعال

أيضا يؤكد القرآن الكريم على قدسية النفس البشرية، حيث يقول الله تعالى
﴿مَن قَتَلَ نَفْسًۭا بِغَيْرِ نَفْسٍ أَوْ فَسَادٍۢ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَكَأَنَّمَا قَتَلَ ٱلنَّاسَ جَمِيعًۭا﴾ “المائدة: 32”. إن سفك دم الأبرياء بسبب انتمائهم الطائفي أو العرقي هو جريمة كبرى، لا يمكن تبريرها بأي ذريعة. فالعدل هو أساس الحكم، والظلم لا يعالَج بظلم آخر

كما حذّر الإسلام من الفتن التي تفرق بين المسلمين وتؤدي إلى سفك الدماء بلا حق، فقال الله تعالى: وَٱلْفِتْنَةُ أَشَدُّ مِنَ ٱلْقَتْلِ﴾ “البقرة: 191” فالفتنة تؤدي إلى سلسلة لا تنتهي من الانتقام والثأر، وتفتح الباب لمآسٍ لا حصر لها، حيث يصبح الجميع ضحايا، ويدفع الأبرياء الثمن الأكبر. وللأسف يوجد من يرمي الفتن من أبناء الطائفتين العلوية والسنية من الخارج، وهم غير مكترثين بعدد الضحايا فهم واسرهم آمنين، ومن يقتل يعدونه باختصار شديد شهيد، أي ان الشهيد رقم وليس روح

لذا نحن ندعو العقلاء من كلا الطائفتين، والوجهاء الاجتماعين لمحاولة منع ابناؤهم عن الانخراط بهذا النزاع المسلح، نعم عليكم منع سفك الدماء فالنبي ﷺ أوصى في أحاديثه بعدم التعرض للنساء والأطفال وكبار السن، ونهى عن التمثيل بالجثث أو الاعتداء على غير المقاتلين

سوريا اليوم بحاجة إلى العدالة، لا إلى مزيد من المذابح… بحاجة إلى المصالحة، لا إلى الثأر، فالقصاص العشوائي لا يبني دولة، والانتقام لا يحقق الأمن، بل يعمّق الجراح ويدخل البلاد في دوامة لا تنتهي من الفوضى

من الضروري تغليب صوت العقل على الرصاص. احموا بلدكم بالحكمة وليس بالفوضى، فالهدم سهل لكن الترميم صعب، وعندما تكسر الجرة لا يمكن ترميمها
